After graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at Onderstepoort in 2007, Dr Nic took on his first job as a 24 Hour / After Hours Emergency Vet in the Kenilworth Area in Cape Town, working mainly with dogs and cats. Having grown up in the Hillcrest Area, his next job brought him back to the Upper Highway in KZN in 2009. Since then he has also worked in the UK as a locum for a total of 3 years, gaining invaluable experience in different techniques and treatments as well as experiencing how different veterinary practices operate. Dr Nic worked with many small mammals (exotics), such as rats, guinea pigs and rabbits in the UK, thereby extending his scope of practice beyond dogs and cats, to now include these small furies. After returning from the UK in July 2016, Dr Nic took a full time position at the practice and soon went through the motions of purchasing the practice.
In his spare time, Dr Nic enjoys spending time on the beach, attempting to surf and SUP, cycling along the promenade, as well as scuba diving. Dr Nic is also a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Diver Instructor, so is able to train new divers how to scuba and introduce them to the awesome and amazing underwater world of the ocean. Dr Nic has 2 family dogs, Sophie and Alex, both are Bull Terriers. Dr Nic also enjoys pottering around in the garden and has a keen interest in all types of flowers.
